Amanda Congdon was born in [m/d], 1981 in
New York City, New York.
She was raised in New York City, but went
away for college and attended Northwestern University, where she
graduated Magna Cum Laude. [She has also done some studying abroad, and
attended classes at Kings College in London, England and University of
South Wales in Sydney, Australia.] After graduating, she came back to
New York and worked in advertising with Saatchi & Saatchi.
Amanda always had an interest in theater,
and began acting in various stage performances throughout the city
including lead roles in Independence (as Jo) at the Manhattan Theatre
Source and Waafrica (as Bobby) in the Manhattan Red Room Theatre. She
has also done comedy at the New York Comedy Club and has appeared on
various TV episodes, including CSI, Las Vegas and the Chris Rock Show,
not to mention appearing on a music video by Northstar.
She made her way into the public’s eye when
she appeared as the anchor of a vblog (video blog) called Rocketboom.
Rocketboom was a three minute “newscast” that appeared online. She
reported the news with wit and sometimes a comic style. Viewers come for
the news, and many male viewers also come because of her – not only is
she talented, but she is quite pretty as well. She co-produced and
co-scripted the show as well. The show began on October 26, 2004, with
only about 700 viewers, but grew to over 70,000 within a year. By the
end of 2005, the show began receiving a lot of press coverage, which
only increased its viewership and after an interview on CNN, the number
of viewers reached over 300,000.
On July 5, 2006, Amanda Congdon told her
viewers (on her personal blog,
Amanda UnBoomed) that she was leaving the show [click
here for more info]. The show claims that she left on her own
accord, but Congdon stresses that she was fired [click
here for more info]. One thing for sure is that there was a dispute
between her and producer-director Andrew Baron. [Congdon has been
replaced by MTV Europe News VJ Joanne Colan.] For now, Amanda is living
with her parents in Connecticut and did sign up with Endeavor talent
agency. She hopes to move out to Los Angeles in the near future, but
first wants to get something set up first. Luckily, hundreds of job
offers have been pouring in.

resume): Bungee Jumping, Hula-Hooping, Horseback Riding, Swimming,
Volleyball, Skiing, Roller-Skating/Blading, Kayaking and Soccer.
